As part of their ongoing commitment to dark sky conservation, Refuge staff will be hosting on-site stargazing programs and conducting community outreach in collaboration with the Big Sky Astronomy Club.
They host dark sky events including star parties that incorporate discussions about light pollution and its effects on dark sky quality, animal and human life.
At a total of 4,606 km2 (1,138,167 acres), the parks share the distinction of being the world’s first International Peace Park (1932), two UNESCO Biosphere Reserves, and a single UNESCO World Heritage Site.
