Petrified Forest National Park
Petrified Forest National Park in northeastern Arizona was certified an International Dark Sky Park in 2018. To stay past closing, pick up a free Dark Sky Viewing Permit at the Painted Desert Inn; only two are issued per day, first come, first served, and you still pay entry. About half the park is wilderness, with just a faint glow from Holbrook on the western horizon, so aim for a new moon.
