Flagstaff, Arizona
Flagstaff, Arizona became the world's first International Dark Sky City in 2001, and the Milky Way can be seen over downtown. The city relies on amber lighting, downward-shielded fixtures and limits on total light. Buffalo Park hosts the Flagstaff Star Party in early October, and the Celebration of the Night series runs September to October.
