Massacre Rim Wilderness Study Area
Massacre Rim Wilderness Study Area in far northern Washoe County, Nevada, became an International Dark Sky Sanctuary in 2019. The BLM-managed area near the California and Oregon borders is remote, with elevations of 5,520 to 6,780 feet and views up to 60 miles. Vehicle access is limited and water is unreliable, and no campground or facilities are described, so carry everything you need.
