Chimney Rock National Monument
Chimney Rock National Monument is a 4,726-acre archaeological site in San Juan National Forest, Colorado, certified as a dark sky place in 2025. Its twin pinnacles frame lunar standstill, solstice and equinox alignments, and the Forest Service says the moon rises between them a few days a year. Vehicles need a $20 activity pass, bought online or by card on site.
