NASA's Stennis Space Center successfully tested RS-25 engine No. 10001, running it for almost eight-and-a-half minutes at a 111% power level. This test is significant for sky-watchers because it brings NASA closer to launching its Space Launch System rocket, which will enable future Artemis missions to the Moon. The success of these engine tests is a crucial step in the development of the SLS rocket, which will eventually carry astronauts and cargo on deep space missions. Sky-watchers can look forward to witnessing the launch of the SLS rocket, powered by four RS-25 engines, in future Artemis missions.
