The Sky Today on Wednesday, October 14: Io covers Callisto

A rare sky event occurred on October 14 as Io passed in front of Callisto, occulting it from our view. This event is of interest to sky-watchers because it allows them to observe the unique alignment of Jupiter's moons. Observers in the US Midwest and farther west had a great opportunity to witness this event, and those who missed it can look forward to similar alignments in the future. Sky enthusiasts can check the full Sky This Week column for more upcoming sky events.
