Michigan's Dark Sky Preserve law (Part 751, 1995) names eight preserves in the statute itself, including Lake Hudson, Wilderness State Park, Port Crescent, Rockport, Negwegon, Thompson's Harbor, Dr. T.K. Lawless Park and Headlands. In state-owned preserves lighting must be necessary, aimed downward, fully shielded where possible and motion-activated where practical. No new preserve may be created in the Upper Peninsula.
