The District of Columbia has no law restricting outdoor lighting. Its only dark-sky-related provision, D.C. Code 8-1776.02, ordered the Department of the Environment to report to the Council on lighting methods and levels, weighing safety, energy cost, environmental health and aesthetics, and reviewing IES and International Dark-Sky Association standards.
